Confusion Na Wa nominated for four Africa Movie Academy Awards

The whole Confusion Na Wa team were given a great boost this weekend upon learning that our film has received a total of four nominations for the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). At a glittering ceremony hosted in Malawi on Friday night it was announced that the film has been nominated in the following categories:

  • Best Film
  • Best Nigerian Film
  • Best Director for Kenneth Gyang
  • Best Supporting Actor for Gold Ikponmwosa (pictured above)

Having seen so many of the filmmakers and actors that we have looked up to in the past being nominated for and winning at the AMAAs, it is truly inspiring to find ourselves a part of this competition in 2013.

That is not the end of the good news however. As well as seeing Confusion Na Wa nominated for four awards we were excited to see the team behind the film nominated for their work on other projects, confirming how lucky we were to be able to assemble such a talented group. Nominations for the team included:

  • Best Screenplay (Kenneth Gyang’s Blood and Henna)
  • Best Film in an African Language (Blood and Henna)
  • Best Nigerian Film (Blood and Henna)
  • Best Supporting Actor (Ali Nuhu in Blood and Henna)
  • Achievement in Production Design (Blood and Henna)
  • Achievement in Costume Design (Blood and Henna)
  • Best Actor (OC Ukeje for his performance in Charles Novia’s Alan Poza)

The winners will be announced at the AMAA ceremony in Bayelsa, Nigeria on April 20th. Congratulations and best of luck to all our fellow nominees!
